Batuu? No? Let’s go!

Ever get the feeling you’re the absolute last Star Wars fan who hasn’t see Batuu? Well you’re not. And you won’t be the last. Countless fans will never get that chance to go. Countless fans have also lost opportunities to even go this year due to the state of the world, that may have been their one and only chance. But as with anything, there are always more opportunities.

Let me scroll it back a little, I’ll give you a my history with Disney parks. I’ve been a handful of times to Walt Disney World. (I say handful, it’s probably at least 6 times though.) I’ve never been to Disneyland, any of the international parks, just good ol’ Florida. My family would drive down from New England, it would take two days. Two. Days. We’d spend the week, then drive home. This was just how it went each time we went. First time was when I was 1 or 2 and I don’t remember it at all, my older siblings do though.

99% sure they filmed an episode of Step by Step or Boy Meets World on one of the days we were there. Requested a photo from my mom’s archives but couldn’t find it but remembered it! Although, she did claim they were filming Eight is Enough. (Impossible, Mom. That show was from ’77 to ’81 and we were in Disney in ’96..)

Then in 2005, my older sister did the Disney College Program and suddenly, we know so much more about the parks. This started a chain of going to Florida every few years to visit her for CP, and then visits after when she graduated college. My last official time I went to WDW was in the early summer of 2015.

Ya’ll remember 2015? That was the last of the Star Wars Weekends at Hollywood Studios. I’m pretty sure we went to the actual LAST one of those! At the time, I was mildly into Star Wars. But enough to get super excited about being there. Like come on, look at this.

“Witness me, my Lord.”

Seriously, pre sequels era Jamm was a huge Darth Maul stan. Still is. Also look at them Asics, those were my fave sneakers. But anyway, we’re not here to talk about my sneakers any my Daft Droidz shirt.

Think back to what you were doing in 2015! For me, I was about to go into my senior year of college. I’d been a fan of Disney parks for my entire life at this point. The Disney aesthetic bloggers and social media accounts didn’t really exist yet.

Some time after my 2015 visit, that lifestyle erupted. And honestly, I’m a little depressed I didn’t get more involved in it. It’s probably something to do with the fact I live nowhere near a park and can’t afford that kind of lifestyle. (Seriously. How do these people do this?!)

So here I am, a huge sequels fan and I still haven’t been to Batuu! I’ve seen tours, I’ve seen reviews, I’ve watched vlogs, I can half translate written Aurebesh. I’m READY.

We were set to go to Disnyland (Finally!) this year in August, but well you know how 2020 has been going. We’ll be home, away from it all. The time for Disney will come again. Hoping it’s sometime next year, but we’ll see!

My wishes to see in Batuu-

  • Rise of the Resistance! – Gotta get in on that boarding group the moment we set foot in the park. I know the drill..
  • Oga’s Cantina! – Please, I need to have a space drink. Ardees, Quantum Fizzlers, a Fuzzy TaunTaun, all of them. I’m the kind of person who has one hard cider a month, and bars turn me off in the worst kind of way even when there isn’t a pandemic going on but, I need to go to Oga’s.
  • Savi’s! – I’m ready for another lightsaber. Bring it on.)
  • Hondo. – I need to see the best/worst space pirate. Will he be a character to meet by then? I sure as heck hope so.

Whenever I do get to Batuu, you’ll be the first to know about it.
